Delivering yachts on the Rhine and canals, followed by a season as a skipper in the Aegean, led to the decision to build his own sailing catamaran. Design, construction and practical use were never considered separately. His journeys took him along the Vistula to Gdansk, close to the Russian border near Kaliningrad, and via the Elbe and Vltava to Prague.<\/p>\n<p>The shallow draught opened up rivers, canals and anchorages that are barely accessible to conventional yachts.
